This objective has been renewed in the recent national planning for the 2035 horizon, after considering the limitations associated with the country's dependence on revenues from the limited resources of the hydrocarbon sector, as the main contribution to the Gross Domestic Product. Additionally, this objective also highlights the advantages of the country that could support agricultural development, such as (i) unexploited arable land, (ii) favorable rainfall and abundant water resources, (iii) a growing demand for agricultural products, both within the country and in the subregion.
