Mazin Intelligence API

Structured access to Mazin Intel's published African security incidents and risk scores, plus port, chokepoint and maritime advisory data. Every incident carries its source, licence and confidence. Only records the founder has reviewed and published are returned; raw third-party data is never resold.

Coverage is still being built. Endpoints return only the records that exist, and planned datasets say so rather than returning placeholders. See also the open country and feed endpoints.

Endpoints

Endpoint	Access	Returns
GET /v1/health	Public	Service status and server time.
GET /v1/incidents	Key	Published incidents. Filters: country, category, severity_min, confidence, from, to, bbox, limit (≤200), cursor.
GET /v1/incidents/{id}	Key	One published incident.
GET /v1/risk-scores	Key	Published risk scores (0–100). Filters: entity_type, entity_name.
GET /v1/countries	Public	All 54 countries with region, coverage_tier and risk ratings.
GET /v1/countries/{iso2}	Key	Country detail: coverage_tier, notes, last_reviewed_at, status (assessed or not_yet_assessed) and the latest published risk profile per category.
GET /v1/countries/{iso2}/incidents	Key	Published incidents for one country, same filters as /v1/incidents, each with coverage_tier and verification_level.
GET /v1/regions/{region}/incidents	Key	Published incidents for a region: north, west, sahel, central, east, horn, southern, indian_ocean.
GET /v1/ports	Key	African port register with verification status.
GET /v1/chokepoints/transits	Key	Daily Bab el-Mandeb and Suez transit counts from IMF PortWatch (days ≤365).
GET /v1/maritime/advisories	Key	GDACS disaster alerts and US Federal Register sanctions notices for Africa.
GET /v1/corridors, /trade/flows, /companies, /sanctions	Planned	Return 404 with error code not_implemented until authorised data exists.

Authentication

Send your key in the Authorization header. Missing, invalid or deactivated keys receive a 401 JSON error.

Rate limits

Free: 100 requests per day
Pro: 10,000 requests per day
Enterprise: by agreement

Limits reset at 00:00 UTC. Over the limit returns 429 with a Retry-After header. Pricing for paid plans is agreed on request.

Response format

Every response has data, meta (count, next_cursor, api_version) and data_updated_at. Errors use { error: { code, message } }. The samples below are illustrative examples, not real records.

Data, licences and freshness

Incidents are entered and reviewed by the founder from named public sources. Records marked internal-only are never served.
Port register entries are curated reference points marked awaiting_verification until checked.
Transit counts come from IMF PortWatch and arrive several days late. Advisories come from GDACS and the US Federal Register.
Nothing is real-time. Check data_updated_at on each response.

Terms

API data is licensed for the client's internal use. It may not be resold, redistributed or republished in bulk. Attribute Mazin Intel when citing individual records. Access may be suspended for misuse or excessive load. Mazin Intel provides analysis, not emergency or legal advice.
